BIOGRAPHY

Art has been an integral part of my family life. As a young girl we grew up playing classical music, my cousins were jazz pianist and my sister an artist in her own right. My sister and my niece were always creating art. My Aunt was an artist and my cousin is a poet. My art came into focus late in my life and eventually realized that I was evolving into an artist and loved it.

Through my extensive travels in the past, I was able to visit many countries and experience other cultures. In these journeys, you are exposed to a new world, to different languages, smells, colors, sights, sounds, and people. It was life-changing, it was a humbling and character-building experience.

My love of Art and inspirations deepened as I traveled throughout Europe, South America, Mexico, Africa, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Thailand. I appreciated the Art in these amazing countries. I was fortunate to have viewed some famous artists in one of my visits to Le Louvre and Musee d'Orsay, Paris France; Picasso, Michelangelo, Monet, Rembrandt, Vincent Van Gogh, Renoir, Cezanne, and DaVinci, at that time, all in one place. They left me inspired to write a paper in Art class on Van Gogh and paint Sunflowers, I painted water lilies inspired by Cezanne, and created and captured the impressionistic simplicity of nature.
I was energized to focus my passion for art.

THE PROCESS
I am inspired by the careful layering of colors and shapes and their effect and balance of the mind, body, and emotions. You will see lots of blues in my works which represent many wonderful meanings such as confidence and stability. In my Dream Sequence Series, I, II, and III, I use calming blues, and light and relaxing colors to soothe the soul.

I paint large oil on canvas with many forms and textures with large
brush strokes. Because I paint in layers it could take 4 - 6 months from start to finish to complete an oil painting. Each layer takes a week or so to dry.
My ambition is to paint an impressive and grand work. I like my viewer to feel the composition is bigger than life. My technique could be something about the tone or the way colors offset one another that could inspire me. Endless drawings are not for me. I want to just paint and have the colors flow or connect, finding your rhythm and your approach.
